The four seasons are deeply rooted within me. In these blossoming days of April I find myself filled with hope and renewal that only spring can offer.
This quote from impressionist Henri Matisse seems fitting any time of year, but especially now: “There are always flowers for those who want to see them.” All things seem possible in the spring. The world is flush with beginnings even as I shiver in my winter coat marveling as the daffodils bravely salute the frosty morning.
We observed Easter ten days ago, the ultimate Christian celebration of spring and eternal life. I found a sweet quote from American humorist, Evan Esar: “Easter is the only time when it’s safe to put all your eggs in one basket.” Indeed. For children gathering Easter eggs, it’s safe; for Christians putting faith in Christ, it’s safe.

Two years ago April when we were falling into the pandemic and our businesses, schools, and lives were shut down, I shared these thought titled “Longing for Spring.”
Our hearts long
To be released from illness and loss
And health restored
To be let loose from our confines
To care for others, to return to work
To wander and ramble as we please
To hold and embrace those we love
To be renewed with a breath of fresh air free from worry
To soak up contentment and peace
To find the promise of spring, one blossom at a time.
Two years ago we longed for a spring we could not have. In the time since then, we have been challenged beyond our imaginings, some suffering great personal loss. But the longing for spring is over. This spring let’s remember what we do have.
Fears overcome
Health restored
Wanderings resumed
Work engaged
Loved ones embraced
Lives cherished.

The promise of spring is ours!
Beautifully said, Jane, and oh, so true! Thank you for reminding me to “smell the flowers” more often, each day. Can’t wait to see you….soon!
Thank you, Jane. That’s beautiful!
Spring is indeed beautiful. Here at the Lake redbuds are blooming and dogwoods are beginning to flower. Looking forward to seeing you soon. 🌷🌺
Very nicely said, Jane. I think we can all relate to what you wrote. I like the quotes you used too.
Thank you, Jane, for reminding me what Spring should mean. Lately I have struggled to see it. My family has been going through some dark days. I must let Christ back into my life and trust him to guide ud through this.
I hope you had a wonderful Easter. I thank you for your friendship all these many years. God bless you.
