National Day of Everything

May 23, 2022 By Jane Perry 4 Comments

Did you know there’s a National Day for just about everything under the sun? I didn’t either until my friend Judi started emailing them to our Bible Study every Monday. We renamed this weekly list of trivia Funday and looked forward to it. I thought I’d share how Funday works.
May 24th is National Brother’s Day, Endless Breakfast Day, Scavenger Hunt Day, and Wyoming Day, among many others.

To celebrate, take your brother—if you don’t have one, adopt one for the day—to your favorite diner, dive or restaurant. I can smell the steak and eggs and waffles already.

After eating, if you haven’t been escorted out from abusing the endless breakfast, it’s time to go on a scavenger hunt. By the way, are scavenger hunts a thing anymore? As a kid I fondly remember running around the neighborhood looking for crazy things, hoping to be the first one to complete the list, yet sort of afraid to go to that one house where weird neighbors lived. Anyway, this requires planning ahead because your hunt will take you to . . . wait for it . . . Wyoming to bring back rocks from Yellowstone Park! Isn’t this exciting!

Wait, what? You don’t live in a neighboring state and it’s too far to drive? Well, turn the car around and head back home to watch a movie filmed in that scenic state. Or drive back to the restaurant—if they’ll let you in—with your adopted brother for another stack of pancakes and raise a glass (you’ll need a Bloody Mary at this point) to salute that great state of Wyoming. That’s how you celebrate National Brother’s, Endless Breakfast, Scavenger Hunt, Wyoming Day. Here’s the website:

The possibilities are endless and no one will notice if your celebration includes a National Endless Bloody Mary Day!

Dear friends, on a serious note remember May 30 is Memorial Day, time to offer a prayer of gratitude for our fallen service members. Blessings to all of you!
