We’ve been busy. No, we’re not opening a hardware store, but we just held a huge tool sale in our garage last Saturday.

This is what a carpenter accumulates in 18 years when his wife isn’t paying attention. As you can see there were drills, saws, hand tools, more drills, more saws, heaters and lots of fishing tackle. The sale was a huge success, and we emptied our garage. It’s a bitter sweet time as we’ve put our lake property up for sale, which may or may not be accomplished by the end of summer.
Speaking of that, flipping the calendar from August to September clearly signals the change from summer to autumn for me, in spite of lingering hot days. This weekend I’ll be signing copies of Marcello’s Promise again at the lake’s fall festival, the Ox Roast, which has nothing to to with an ox but does have a great pulled pork sandwich. As I push forward with new beginnings, know that I’m working on my next novel. It’s a continuation of ”Lila’s Song,” the short story published last year.

As we say goodbye to summer and greet autumn, I plan to get in a few more turns around the lake in the kayak. This place has been a special gift every day that we’ve been fortunate to enjoy it, but its time to simplify our lives (and work) to one location. There are other sunrises to see, too. I was reading just yesterday about a train excursion through the Canadian Rockies. Hmmm. I wonder . . .

In the waning days of summer I hope you read your favorite book, discovered something remarkable, parachuted from a plane if that was your desire, grilled your favorite meal, spent time with those you love, and had an all around wonderful summer! As the song from the 60’s goes, “See you in September.”
That’s great your sale was a big success! Love the lake picture, and am glad I was able to spend some time on it with you! Vicki
Beautifully said, as always! While saying goodbye to our past lives, discovering what’s next is the fun part! My 85-year-old husband just launched his webste yesterday—-“Tee Foolery” — for designing and creating humorous tee shirts! So, why not be working on your 2nd novel?! You fans are waiting, eagerly, Jane!
It was a great pleasure getting to know you.
As of today Betsy the house hasn’t sold so I may be back next spring doing yoga with you!💕
